BLACKPINK’s MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ Reaches 300 Million Views… ‘Fastest’ Record in K-Pop History

YG's girl group: BLACKPINK’s MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ became the fastest MV to surpass 300 million views, by reaching the figure in 2 months.
Also, the MV was the first to reach 300 million views among songs released by BLACKPINK this year.



The MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ surpassed 300 million views on YouTube today (23rd), and YG Entertainment revealed a congratulatory poster to celebrate the news through their official blog (www.yg-life.com).

BLACKPINK set another milestone in K-Pop history. The MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ released on June 15 at 6 PM surpassed 300 million views in 68 days since its release. It shortened the previous record by 100 days, which is a record unmatched by other K-Pop groups.

Despite being a girl group that have weaker fandoms compared to bay groups, BLACKPINK became the group that holds the MV that reached 300 million views in the shortest amount of time in K-Pop history.


The success of ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ have been forecasted for a long time. WHile reaching from 10 million to 100 million views, the group swept all time-related records previously held by other girl groups and started to dominate all records, including the ones previously held by boy groups at the point they surpassed 150 million views.

The MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ also became the 2nd most watched video in the world in 24 hours since its release. Various well-known foreign press channels headlined BLACKPINK’s success.

Furthermore, they also became the K-Pop girl group with the most subscribers on YouTube. The group was awarded with the ‘Diamond Creator Award’ by YouTube for the first time as a girl group. BLACKPINK’s official YouTube channel currently has approximately 11,000,000 subscribers.
