BLACKPINK Wins ‘Best Dance Video’ at Japan’s MTV VMAJ 2018

YG's girl group BLACKPINK will receive the Best Dance Video Award in MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN 2018 (abbreviated as VMAJ).
MTV VMAJ 2018 announced BLACKPINK’s MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ as the winner of this year’s Best Dance Video Award.

The judges of VMAJ 2018 are composed of creative directors of MTV. They announced the winners with the best works in 16 categories. BLACKPINK’s MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ will compete with winners of other categories for the ‘Video of the Year Award’ through general voting. The voting will continue until September 25.


VMAJ is the Japanese version of America’s MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS. It is a global music festival which was held from back in 2002. The event awards artists with outstanding music and music videos in various selected categories. Top artists from Japan and global artists including Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, and Lady Gaga have participated the awards ceremony.

BLACKPINK has also previously appeared in MTV VMAJ last year as guests, to perform songs including ‘BOOMBAYAH’ and ‘AS IF IT’S YOUR LAST’. The group proved their improved position in the Japanese music industry this year, by receiving the Best Dance Video Award.
