BLACKPINK’s MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ Surpasses 400 Million Views, ‘Fastest Record in K-Pop Group History’

YG's girl group BLACKPINK’s MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ surpassed 400 million views in 3 months, writing the fastest record in K-Pop group history.
The MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ surpassed 400 million views on YouTube on October 6 at 10 AM, and YG Entertainment revealed a congratulatory poster to celebrate the event through their official blog.

The MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ released on June 15 surpassed 400 million views in 112 days since its release. The new record shortened the pre-existing record by 5 months, as the number was reached in less than one half of the time it took before. BLACKPINK proved their influence that is reaching the entire globe, surpassing to Korean peninsula.


‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ swept all time related records previously held by other girl groups while reaching from 10 million to 100 million views and began writing the fastest records in K-Pop boy and girl group history at the point they surpassed 200 million views. The group set a ‘milestone’ by setting the fastest records on reaching 200 million views, 300 million views, and 400 million views in K-Pop history, establishing themselves as the ‘representative group of K-Pop’.

All 6 MVs released by BLACKPINK since the group made debut on August 8, 2016 including ‘BOOMBAYAH’, ‘WHISTLE’, ‘PLAYING WITH FIRE’, ‘STAY’, ‘AS IF IT’S YOUR LAST’, and ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ all surpassed 100 million views, proving the group’s power of influence. Furthermore, not only the MV, but also the dance practice video for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ surpassed 100 million views, which worked as an indicator of the group’s popularity status.


BLACKPINK now became the first-ever K-Pop girl group to own ‘two’ MVs with over ‘400 million views’. The MV for ‘AS IF IT’S YOUR LAST’ released on June 2017 surpassed 400 million views last month on the 21st, in 1 year and 3 months since the video was released. That was the pre-existing fastest record among K-Pop girl groups. BLACKPINK shortened their own previous record by approximately 8 months, proving their global popularity that suits the group’s nickname, ‘YouTube Queens’.

In addition, BLACKPINK recently received the ‘Diamond Creator Awards’ by YouTube by surpassing 10 million YouTube subscribers on their account. They also became the K-Pop group with the ‘most number of subscribers’.
