U.S. Billboard “BLACKPINK’s Comeback, Start of A New Revolution” … Rewrites Girl-Group History

BLACKPINK proved their nickname as ‘New record generators’, by re-writing girl group history as soon as they made comeback.
The title song ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ from BLACKPINK’s new album was released on the 15th at 6 PM, achieved no. 1 on 7 different charts in 2 hours, and an ‘all-kill’ in all 8 real-time music charts in 4 hours since its release. As of today (16th) at 9 AM, ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ is continuing its no. 1 march on 8 different music charts including Melon, Mnet, Naver Music, Olleh, Monkey 3, Bugs, Genie, and Soribada.

Also, the mini album ‘SQUARE UP’ was placed at no. 1 on iTunes Charts in 41 countries, establishing a new record among girl-groups.

The group is proving their explosive popularity not only in Korean charts, but also charts overseas by displaying total domination.

BLACKPINK also wrote new records on YouTube. As of today, at 12:14 AM, the official MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ surpassed 10 million views and surpassed 20 million views as of 7:44 AM.

It became the fastest MV by a girl-group to surpass 10 million views in 6 hours, and 20 million views in 13 hours since its release.

The video is assisting BLACKPINK’s success by being placed at no. 1 on YouTube’s Trending Video chart in Korea and the United States, which is the country with the largest music industry.

U.S. Billboard spotlighted BLACKPINK on the 15th (local time) by writing, “BLACKPINK makes comeback after taking a long break. And now, they are starting a revolution”.

The continued, “The members act out dramatic scenes in the MV for the title song ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’. They rap on top of a bedazzled tank, get surrounded by the paparazzi, and grab the viewers’ attention by riding a chandelier as if it was a swing”, leaving a positive review on the details of the MV.

Billboard also added, “The album became more aggressive in general and has a stronger feel of Hip-Hop, compared to their previous releases”.

While proving their ‘crazy presence’ all over the world, BLACKPINK will have their first comeback performance on MBC ‘Show! Music Core’ at 3:25 PM. The harder and cooler choreography they will perform is already making the fans eager to watch.
