On September 4, Dua Lipa shared a special news by writing, “On October 19 (US), the super deluxe edition album including 3 new songs will be released” and added, “I hope it will be a little gift to wrap up this album cycle” through her social media.
BLACKPINK participated in the creation of the song ‘KISS AND MAKE UP’. Related officials from YG Entertainment stated, “It’s more of a collaboration rather than simply featuring in a song, as the group takes about half of the song”. It is said that the collaboration happend due to Dua Lipa’s request.
They have discussed on creating the MV numerous times, but did not happen due to the busy schedules by both parties.
As BLACKPINK and Dua Lipa have revealed that they are fans of each other, a great synergy effect is expcted. People are also expecting them to collab in various ways starting with the release of the song, through additional songs or stage performances.
BLACKPINK’s MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ released on June surpassed 300 million views in 68 days, writing the fastest record in K-Pop history. The number of people subscribing to BLACKPINK’s official YouTube channel also surpassed 10 million, making BLACKPINK the K-Pop group with the ‘most number of subscribers’ on YouTube.
Dua Lipa is the ‘hottest’ artist from UK, who recently reached 1.4 billion views on her hit song ‘New Rules’. The collaboration by the two parties is expected to capture the ears of global fans.
