- Special Made Moving Poster Revealed, PINK SQUARE Unveiled
BLACKPINK will make comeback on June 15 with their first mini album since debut, titled ‘SQUARE UP’. ‘SQUARE UP’ has the meaning of ‘Let’s fight’ and ‘Let’s verse one another’. It portrays the message of ‘Let’s confidently square up’.On June 1 at 9 AM, YG Entertainment revealed the moving teaser poster for BLACKPINK’s first mini album ‘SQUARE UP’ through their official blog (www.yg-life.com).
It is a poster specially produced to display a 9-second motion while displaying the comeback date ‘2018.06.15’ and the phrase ‘1st MINI ALBUM’.
A pink square shows up on a black background, while the pink square splits in three dimensions. Meanwhile, the title of the album ‘SQUARE UP’ rises on top.
‘SQUARE UP’ is one of BLACKPINK’s ‘SQUARE’ series released since debut, and continues the legacy of their debut album ‘SQUARE ONE’ and their second album ‘SQUARE TWO’. One can see the progress of the square getting unveiled in each album cover.
Since BLACKPINK is expected to release a mini album containing multiple tracks instead of their previous releases on singles and double singles, the expectations of fans are higher than ever.
BLACKPINK made debut on August 8, 2016 with their debut songs ‘WHISTLE’ and ‘BOOMBAYAH’. Following up with their second album ‘PLAYING WITH FIRE’ and ‘STAY’ to ‘AS IF IT’S YOUR LAST’ which is their most recent release, they set milestones and continued to create hits.
On May 13, the MV for ‘AS IF IT’S YOUR LAST’ renewed the previous record by ‘BOOMBAYAH’ and became the fastest MV by a K-Pop girl group to surpass 300 million views. Furthermore, ‘WHISTLE’ and ‘PLAYING WITH FIRE’ surpassed 200 million views while ‘STAY’ surpassed 100 million views, proving their ‘status as the ‘best girl group’ holding all 5 MVs with over 100 million views.
