BLACKPINK set the highest record in K-Pop group history with 700 Million Views for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ M/V

YG's girl group - BLACKPINK’s MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ set a milestone of surpassing 700 million views for the first time in K-Pop group history.
Today(9th) at 9 AM, the MV for ‘DDU-DU DD-DU’ wrote new history by surpassing 700 million views on YouTube. To celebrate the new record, YG Entertainment uploaded a celebratory poster through their official blog.

The MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ released on June 15 surpassed 700 million views in just 266 days, which is the highest record in K-Pop group history.

The surpassing 700 million views by BLACKPINK for the first time as a K-Pop group has been predicted. They surpassed 600 million views in less than one half of the pre-existing record, while rapidly increasing in views to become the most-watched video in K-Pop group history last month.


The MV for ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ previously became the fastest MV to surpass 100 million views in K-Pop girl group history and started to make new records in boy and girl group history at the point they surpassed 200 million views. They set a milestone by re-writing all time-related records as they reached 200 to 700 million views.

Furthermore, BLACKPINK has the greatest number of MVs with over 500 million views among all K-Pop groups. They have 3 videos including ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ with 700 million views, in addition to ‘AS IF IT’S YOUR LAST’ and ‘BOOMBAYAH’ with 500 million views, respectively.



In addition, all 7 MVs released by BLACKPINK have surpassed 100 million views on YouTube, including JENNIE’s ‘SOLO’. This proves the group’s amazing global influence.

Not only their MVs, but also their performance clips were popular. The performance videos of ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’, ‘AS IF IT’S YOUR LAST’, ‘BOOMBAYAH’, ‘PLAYING WITH FIRE’, and JENNIE’s ‘SOLO’ all surpassed 100 million views on YouTube, proving the global fans’ explosive interest on BLACKPINK’s performances.

With the help of their global popularity, BLACKPINK partnered with Interscope Records, the representative music label of Universal Music Group, to notify their official debut in the US Pop scene.

They recently appeared in well-known local TV shows including CBS’ ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’, ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’, and ‘Strahan and Sara’, leaving a strong impression on global viewers. Various foreign media and press channels spotlighted BLACKPINK’s promotional activities in the US.

After completing their Asia tour, BLACKPINK will continue their global act with their large-scale world tour which includes tour locations in North America, Europe, and Australia. After all 60 thousand tickets for the group’s concerts in 6 cities were sold out, BLACKPINK confirmed to hold 2 additional concerts, proving the group’s heated ticket power.
